What makes news?

http://jodiariasisinnocent.com/

JODI ARIAS she has been making headlines for months now about the murder she has committed to her Mormon boyfriend Travis Alexander. while looking into the media and what they have to say about Jodi and the trial i have stumbled upon to my extreme surprise a support website and these are some of the examples of why it is bias.

Bias by Headline
the first source that i discovered was probably the most bias of all of them it was to my shocking surprise a  support site for Jodi arias. some of the headlines come as followed the slogan of the site seems to be " we are team Jodi and we will be victorious" and " a detail reply to DR. drew's BS question"

Bias by Word Choice and Tone

the person that created this site often posts news broadcaster videos with a headline the news station puts on it and spins the words around to try to air them in a positive light or decrease the seriousness of the situation.

Bias by Captions and Camera angles
The creator of this site only uses positive pictures of Jodi where she is smiling or shot in a bright light. most of the pictures used are ones outside of the court room to promote a somewhat positive image.

Bias by Labeling (names, titles)
On this site they tend to use very positive words and phrases such as " good person" "support" "inocents"
"wrongly accuses"

isu processes

For my ISU i was originally going to do my add campaign on my own i was trying to figure out a way that i could promote ASE1 and when in discussion of brain storming with another student Neela Imani we both came up with a really good idea, that was to remix a well known song and re write lyrics that apply to ASE1 and promote ASE as a school that others would want to attend while still providing information that people may want to know about.

We started off our first day of working together by researching possible songs that we could use for our media campaign. we came up with 3 songs but the one that really stuck out for me and Neela was "started from the bottom" by Drake. We chose this song because me and Neela both felt that it fit with our lives and how we came to ASE1 and why. we started to brainstorm lyrics of words that would rhythm and fit in for how we wanted to paint our picture off ASE1.

Once we had our lyrics down we came up with a story board for how we wanted to film and shoot our music video for ASE1. We also had to record us rapping the lyrics into a recorder which we would edit together latter with the video. We went over things a few times before we actually went to shoot, the shooting process took approximately 2 days total.  We used a tripod for most of our shooting and for the other scenes inside the school we used a dolly shot to create the appearance of us walking towards who ever is watching the video  When we were shooting we wanted to get the point across that Cedarbrae the school me and Neela both came from was our "bottom" and transcending  to ASE was how we had arrived. we also were trying to spoof the original rap video and make a parody or sorts.

After the shooting process was complete we  had to embark on the editing this process didn't quite go as smooth as we had hoped for. it was very difficult to match up the timing of our video with the recording and this process took far long then we had anticipated.Once we had it as close as we could get it timing wise there was the problem that some of our recordings were more quite then others so we had to amplify them but when doing so we realized this decreased the clearness of the sound.

Presenting to the class went smoothly i do wish there was somethings that we could have changed but overall i am really proud of our video that we created together.

protest song

the social injustice's that are addressed in this song are consumerism and how much clothes effect our life as a social status object. the artist of this song is Macklamore (Ben Haggerty) and Ryan Lewis. They are connected to this movement because after this song became a Number one hit around the world sales at thrift stores shot up dramatically, you could argue that now people are just consumers all the same but i think the message of this song still dramatically comes across pointing out things such as why would you spend 50$ on a t-shirt that 6 other people could be wearing at a party or club you go to and the ignorance behind that. i really do enjoy this song i like the message that it sends to people and it is extremely catchy. if i were to write a protest song of my own it would probably be in the genre of acoustic music

advertisements that go viral

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql-N3F1FhW4

i found this add because one of my aunts had posted the link to Facebook awhile ago and it always stuck in my brain because i found it captivated the attention of a age specific audience but could also appeal to a younger demographic. it is selling a sienna Toyota mini van, and it was directed by Jodi Hill. I personally feel that the ad was directed to family's with parents in their early 30's. Also i thought that even people without families would find this advisement comical. the add grabs your attention because they have two very white bread cookie cutter parents rapping which is unusual because they don't seem like the type it draws you in because it is also very funny although it was funny in a awkward way that worked i don't think that they really advertised the actual product enough and that could have been made far more predominant because it is at the end of the day an ad for a car.

the life of Pepsi through advertising, then and now

add from roughly 1940's

add from 2012

Pepsi cola advertising has grown incredibly since the early days of their products launch, Pepsi has always competed with the other dark cola which is coke a cola. Pepsi's notch has always been that their product is great for entertaining guests and being social and that message has carried through into their brand messaging and advertising of the 2000's. as you can see with the add placed below the words on the picture state " live for now" saying potentially that the product puts you in a state of mind of living for the moment and further more by placing the brand logo into the o in now they are putting their product into " living for now"  if you are to compare these two adds the focus of promoting the product to customers and how they were selling it are different but the pitch is still the same that if you buy their product it will help you to get the most you can out of it for the 40's add that was the actual product its self in that you will get 2 full glasses in the newer add it is that it will help you live life to the fullest!

I think that American apparels ads have most defiantly always stood out to me among their competitors, but if you are too look at the ads they all have the same Polaroid type shot look and the girl and or guy that is in the photo is always generally attractive, skinny tall and somehow modeling the clothing. The quoted and said that they are “authentic” I believe that when they started their adds like this they we originally authentic, but now the concept of the Polaroid skinny attractive girl seems over used and just because they aren't using a real quote on quote model doesn't mean they aren't doing exactly what their competitors are by taking a young skinny attractive female and putting their clothes on them they are creating the same broad premise as their competitors but just trying to word into a way that makes it seem like they are standing out but in reality it is all the same.

hello, and welcome to my blog!

on my blog i will be discussing several points that describe how important the media and social networking are to our lives, though photos videos and blogs posts. this photo describes the hundreds of social networking sites that we have available at the swipe of a finger on a tablet or the click of the mouse on a computer. With the fast growing world of technology growing at our fingertips this allows us to find and view media faster and in larger quantities than say a news broad cast would. media travels and becomes as viral as fast as you can tweet someone a link, send an email, post something on a blog, or on a friends Facebook page. we as humans are always looking for the next best thing and it has arrived. instead of sitting down on a Sunday morning and reading the newspaper with breakfast now, we are able to go online and ready today's paper. the internet is the center of most lives, and this is what i am going to be discussing this semester on my blog, media and how it effects our lives
